Historically made from recycled wire, these baskets have evolved along with their materials. Today’s weavers now used anealed steel core wire, which mimics the vibrant look of traditional telephone wire but with greater durability and consistancy. Each basket is intricately woven by hand in KwaZulu-Natal using a technique that starts from the rim and works downward over a mold. This method allows for precision and shape, while preserving the individuality of each object. Every basket in this collection is one of a kind, alive with colour, craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
